    Types of Air Conditioning Systems

British summers are becoming warmer and heatwaves more frequent, making it harder to sleep during long summer evenings. As a result, more homeowners are installing air conditioning in their homes. Multiple types of AC systems are available on the market, and we’ll explore some of the most popular options.

    Ducted air conditioning

Ducted air conditioning is a popular choice for homeowners due to its high cooling power, tidy aesthetic and quiet system. Because of this, they aren’t just popular in homes, but also in offices, shops and schools. In addition, ducted AC is a good option for large spaces due to the coverage they provide whilst being cost-effective.

Ducted AC systems require ducting to be installed throughout the house and with a central unit outside. Because of this, it is best to install them during a new build or refurbishment.

    Split Air Conditioning

Split AC consists of two units, one stored within the home, the other outside. As a result, these systems run quietly. In addition, split AC allows you to cool different rooms at varying temperatures with the thermostat and remote control. Because of this, you can save money by not cooling spaces that don’t need to be.

Frequently Asked Questions about Air Conditioning Systems

We are always happy to offer expert advice and guidance to our customers. As a result, we’ve been asked a lot of questions about AC systems. Below you can find answers to some of the most popular questions we’ve been asked.

Every project varies a little, depending on the size of your home and the system you choose. A typical install takes anywhere between 5-9 hours.

Air conditioners (ACs) measure their power in BTUs (British Thermal Units). The higher the BTU number, the more powerful the system. The size you need will depend on the size of the space you want to cool or heat. Our aircon installation team will help you establish the right home system.

In the vast majority of cases, you won’t need planning permission to install air conditioning. To avoid the need for planning permission, adhere to these requirements:

    • Ensure your external unit sits over one meter clear of property boundaries.
    • Don’t install your external unit on a pitched roof.
    • Your external unit is under 0.6m3
    • The unit should sit one meter clear of the edge of any flat roof
    • There is no wind turbine at the property.

There are multiple factors to consider before installing AC within a commercial property, including:

    • Listed building consent
    • Noise pollution
    • Building regulations
    • F-Gas regulations

You should contact your Local Authority to discuss the project before beginning an installation project.
